Check out this exciting new product from Botany Stainless Steel.
The easiest, prettiest, most convenient way to lift, lower or remove your cooking grid on your barbeque / braai. Click it in, lift the lever and that is it....move it to the level you require. Then upclip the handle and enjoy the braai. Can't you smell that meat cookin' ....yeah ! Well. the morning started out as a gusty wet miserable one. I got a call from John Metelerkamp and he said to me “ Hey Dave I think we should call this one ! “
I said to him that I would give it a call in the next 30 minutes, but having brought our chef Mark up from Cape Town on Thursday, spent the previous evening testing and preparing the meals and ingredients and got all the equipment packed and ready, we decided to go through and check out how it was at the venue. We arrived at Metelerkamps store and were greeted by closed doors, all the staff huddled indoors and John showing me the “man you are crazy” sign by motioning in circles around his ears. I asked him if he was scared of a little wind and rain, after all, John is a well known sailor and fisherman in Knysna . He laughed and said “well give it a go and let’s see what happens !” We unpacked all the Ultimate Convector braais and set them up in a half circle in the corner close to the door. We also decided to take along our new combination model where we combined the Master Braai with the Ultimate Convection Grill, just to to see people’s reaction. We loaded the charcoal into the charcoal fire boxes and fired them up. People gathered wondering just what we were doing, especially given that there was a guy in a Chef’s jacket preparing the meal. Within about 30 minutes we were ready to start with the prepared menu of: Starters: Apple and Blueberry Muffins Main: Sausages wrapped in bacon and stuffed with cheese served with two options
Then the final course: Apple Cheesecake baked in a hollowed out apple. We also tried a recipe we saw on the net where we made apple roses in a pastry surround baked in a muffin tray. The response was great and many of the people asked us to let them in on the recipes that we used, so we have decided to allow you to download them right here: 1.) Apple and Blueberry Muffins 2.) Eggs Benedict - Banting option 3.) Eggs Benedict - Non Banting option 4.) Download the recipes here This week we launched our new 316 Grade Stainless Steel gate loop latch. All components are stainless steel so no more rusting screws or shafts.
This one was made for a client in KZN who manufactures Bamboo gates and he wanted the front loop to be square rather than the conventional round one...so we made them square for him. If you could use these or any other gate hardware in 316 grade stainless steel call us on 044 382 5851 or check out our website on www.botany.co.za As I stood watching the guys in the workshop I wondered how many people actually know how much goes into the manufacturing of the beautiful products they get at the end of the process. It all starts as ugly raw materials and ends up as braais, boat parts or hinges, locks or latches. So I grabbed my phone and took some pictures of Bruce at the milling machine, Beza doing some polishing and Chris busy welding and my thoughts went to ..."Man its all about smoke and ends looking like a mirror." Here is a picture of the emergency steering shaft being drilled before it goes to get welded and then polished before it goes off to the customer. And below is what all this amazing talent ends up producing for our boating clients. We got the pictures of our Ultimate Drum Braai back today from Ian Fleming Photography.
Warren has done an amazing job on the product pictures, as usual. Take a look at let me know what you think...and of the amazing product from our talented artisans in the Botany factory. |
